Social workers across the country have combined forces with other stakeholders to ensure that the elderly in the society are well taken care of (McInnis-Dittrich 2005 . The process has been very involving with various agencies , the police and other government departments taking part in the discussions to ensure the problem

is put to rest . The adult who has been abused can have the matter either reported to the police or to the social service (Kopes-Kerr 2004 . The former will have to follow the normal legal proceedings of the case that ends up in the persecution of the criminal . However there has been much reluctance from the victims and the public at large to report such cases . Sometimes it is the caretakers that abuse the elderly thus becoming so difficult for the crime to be reported (Crawford and Walker 2008 . This is a formidable task calling for the coordination of the Social Services with the various agencies that are responsible for giving care to the elderly . Through a joined effort the information will be able to reach the authorities . Nevertheless the process will not be successful if it not subject to close supervision and monitoring
