Stricter Gun Control Laws

Gun control has been a hot in this country in the past . The constitution states in the Second Amendment that Americans have the right to bear arms ' However , it does not specify what these arms are to be used for , or what type of control to exercise if the arms are being misused . In America , there are so many ways that people misuse weapons daily that stricter gun control will make the country a safer and better place for everyone in it

One of the major problems is

that anyone who wants a gun can get his hands on one , no matter what his reason - something as legal as target practice , or something as illegal as killing another human being . While guns are supposed to only be available from licensed dealers , many guns are sold in other ways . Guns are sold by unlicensed dealers without background checks at gun shows (in some states they are sold by ordinary citizens via news ads , internet sites , garage sales , or other private methods . One site explains that the word `accident ' implies that the situation could have been avoided but if a gun is present in a house where children reside , there is always a chance that a shooting could occur . The only way to prevent this , they explain , is to never have guns in houses where children live

Recent legislature has attempted to create new restrictions on the sale and safety procedures of guns . This attempt began in earnest after the 1999 Columbine school shootings , at which point two-thirds of Americans supported gun control laws . More recently , in 2002 , California began restricting the type of gun available for purchase based on its features (rather than its make and model , and also limited the sale of guns to one per month per person . Illinois now requires child safety locks on all guns . Many attempts at legislation have started out to create stricter gun control laws , but by the time they got through Congress and the pro-gun lobbyists , they were no help at all , and were never signed into...
