The future of Stem Cell Research is one of the hottest debated s in the news today . The ethical , moral , intellectual , and economic concerns echo across the globe from family dinner tables to interviews broadcast internationally . Everyone seems to have an opinion on the , and there are hundreds of thousands of citations on the internet alone . Many of them claim to hold at least one small part of the universal truth which is supposed to save the human race , or the human soul , dependant entirely on

the outlook of the observer

Much of the consternation and confusion stems from the vast amounts of highly technical detail that have yet to be sorted out into a clear concise series of facts for the general public . For instance , one of the primary opponents of stem cell research have been a general category of `right to life ' activists groups who believe it will increase the rate of abortion . However , the most active and well-funded global opponent of abortion in the word , the Catholic church , does not disavow stem cell research in whole . the Catholic church doesn 't have problems with adult stem cell research because the cells can 't be used to produce a unique human being who could be killed in the process

The National Institute for Health offers a website at which a vast amount of information has been parlayed into accessible and useful facts about not only the benefits of stem cell research , but how these cells can be harvested and from whom . There are s of current trials , scientific and layman 's resources , U .S . Policy , Legislation

and even testimonials about the great potential [for stem cell research] to be medically valuable

When we look at the potential for curing thousands of diseases restoring sight , regenerating loss of muscle , bone , and even vital organs , it is impossible to stand on firm ethical or moral ground and state that stem cell research is wrong . This is the feeling carried by the majority of the educated populace as seen in the continued university funding and even some state funded programs for embryonic research despite the federal ban on funding for that purpose . The primary argument against stem cell research fails to outweigh the benefits for all human beings alive today , and those who will be born in the future

With these facts in mind , and armed with the knowledge that stem cell research is escalating on a global level at a rate that will soon leave the US behind financially as well as in scientific ability and understandings , it is important to face down the issue . The time has arrived for the public to better educate themselves about what is to come and stop responding to the issue from the emotional gut . Science has produced monstrosities , it is true , but science has also given us a longer lifespan , healthier children , and the freedom to be able to pursue a better and more fulfilling...
