The history of many groups is that settled in the United States is that of struggle as they tried to adapt . This is more so in the case of minority groups . The Japanese are among these minorities . This provides an explanation of the circumstances that the first Japanese settlers in the United States , also known as the Issei in Japanese found themselves living under between the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century

When the Japanese immigrants reached their destinations in

America they caused some change wherever they were . This is because they of course needed places to eat , sleep and live . There was therefore a rise in the number of places providing these facilities so as to satisfy the demand Such places enabled the immigrants to feel comfortable among their own and not be discriminated against as was the case when they went to white areas . Networking that led to identification of job vacancies and other opportunities was made easier by these facilities as they provided a meeting place . A few of the earlier immigrants earlier began offering work placement services for a fee . There was high demand for laborers and the agents provided this at a fee . The result of settlement was therefore the creation of a mini-economy that was defined by ethnicity
