Cro-Magnon persons living in Southern France 16 ,000 years ago have left a plethora of evidence about their time on earth . Through burial sites cave wall paintings , and excavation sites more and more information is being obtained about the Homo Sapiens Sapiens , otherwise known as Cro-Magnon man . The first fact to consider is that the Cro-Magnon man lived along side of the Neanderthal man . Cro-Magnon spread from Africa and the Middle East with the declining ice age and lived beside the Neanderthals . Some scientists believe the Cro-Magnon man mated with the Neanderthal

and that is the reason for the demise of the Neanderthal but others believe that the competition for food and other changes associated with Cro-Magnon were the cause of the demise of the Neanderthal (Allman , 1991 Hughes , 1995
Many believe that the Cro-Magnon lived in caves in which the cave art is found , however , recent excavation shows that this assumption is no longer true . Cro-Magnon made houses with hearths out of mammoth bones and made close fitting clothes with bone needles and thread to insulate themselves from the cold (Allman , 1991 . This shows an intellect that is the basic foundation of modern man . However , this is not the only evidence . Their fears and joys are pronounced and affect their world view as they lived
The basic fears were animal or opposing tribe attacks . The male Cro-Magnon was the hunter and the warrior . Each clan or tribe had their males and if one tribe or clan came into another...
