The need to eliminate evil from society has been there since the inception of history itself . As man progressed from barbarism to a more civil society so did his practices and so did his instruments for capital punishment . There are two schools of thoughts when it comes to eradicating evil . One believes that man is not evil by nature , it is the society that turns every man who he is today , so it is the duty of the society to help eradicate the evil it has produced rather then the man . On the other hand , the others hold the view that every person is responsible for what he or she does in this world and therefore he or she needs to pay the penalty for it .
