Popular Culture and the Media Popular culture or what is commonly coined as pop culture primarily consists of way of life ' which are mostly followed by people - being trendy -- in the course of their `daily interactions ' as may be influenced by mass media or by other people . These trends have usually form part of the everyday lives of people from all parts of the globe Popular culture also includes certain number of practices -- mostly related to fashion , music , food and leisure activities -- which are widely expressed through `mass circulation

In an article written by Vixen Crabtree , it defined pop culture as a `frequent reference culture for most people ' as what is popular is considered or has been allocated `much time ' or emphasis by the mass media and is `commented on a lot by word-of-mouth ' True enough , the mass media greatly influences its viewers in every aspect of their lives . Marketing strategies such as name-recalling or product branding has been fully exercised or made use of in effectively offering consumers a wide varied of options on products to avail through the mass media
In an observation , more and more people tend to be patronizing products or services that has been locally made available to them , especially if seen through television or has been guaranteed of quality by others through word-of-mouth . People tend to support products or services primarily produced and rendered by the Unites States as those employed efficient marketing strategies which in effect , enticed them . It has also been a mentality to most people that quality products and services are only those which are offered from United States
Although this has been the case , it cannot be placed on conclusion that the Western pop culture - which is primarily English in nature - has become thoroughly Americanized In an observation , it has been said that the `Western world has become highly globalized . All Western countries ' cultures intermingle at an increasing rate . [The] Euro-area migration is at its highest level , all capital cities contain dozens of sub-cultures hailing from all other major populated countries . Also , most worldwide cultures [in the West] are represented . [The] Indian , Chinese , Japanese , Asian cultures of various kinds and sometimes South American cultures are present in many major cities in all Western countries . The West is a gigantic kaleidoscope , more diverse than any previous civilization in the history of mankind . This diversity is reflected in the availability of music fashion , food , television channels , mass media such as newss and religions from dozens of worldwide cultures
This only goes that show that the Western culture - as reflective of its pop culture - is vast or rather much-encompassing . This does not go to show that the Western pop culture has fully embraced what has been offered by the Americans . What this merely reflects is that the presence of American products and or services has provided barely alternatives or options for the Westerners to avail . This has not been forced upon to be adopted by the Western people...
