Political View NCLB
Though the No Child Left Behind (NCLB ) Act of 2001 which is part of the US governments Goals 2000 objectives is a essentially a social reform agenda , its political implications should also be considered as significant (U .S . Department of Education , 2004 . Security and quality of education is an indication of the ability of a nation to sustain social development . the objectives of NCLB Act of 2001 are valid however , political opinion has shifted from both positive and negative The degree of concern for the impacts and implication of the measure have

thus prompted the interest of congress (Congress To Weigh 'No Child Left Behind , 2007 . According to critiques , there is a need to evaluate if the methods and means of compliance to the statutes contravene its objectives . In particular , they point out that the dichotomies in the prescription for classroom programs and curriculums and testing standards encourage manipulation of performance standards (Majhanovich 2002
Thus in effect , the act does not only fail to raise educational standards but also create greater barriers for at-risk students to gain access to the programs they need . There is concern that schools that can not raise their performance will be further disadvantaged becoming subject to a downward spiral of lack of resources and competency to comply with performance requirements . In response , the congress ' inquiry will focus on the failure of the act to create universal standards of education and performance and the irony of it increasing disparities in student performance (Congress To Weigh 'No Child Left Behind , 2007 Another area of concern is that though NCLB provides for margins recognizing language disparities , they are limited and provide even less recognition for socio-cultural and economic barriers to students performance References
