Running head : POLITICAL SCIENCE Introduction Acadia is in dire need of state institutions that will promote human rights , impartiality and respect for the rule of law . To remedy the situation , a number of institutions should be created and a new constitution that promotes good governance put into place New or Reformed State Institutions Executive : an executive presidential system with an office of a prime minister sharing some of the executive powers will be suited to the Acadia situation . This will reduce the claim that the president is imperial and act

as a counter balance to some of the excesses of the executive . It will also remove the president from having to deal with local issues and allow the holder to concentrate on national matters The president should not hold any legislative seat and any candidate should only vie for the top post . This increases their national profile as they will be forced to seek support countrywide
Electoral commission : an independent electoral commission should be set up to organize fresh elections at every stage of the electoral process A new electoral register needs to be established to weed out inconsistencies in the current one . The appointment of commissioners to this electoral body should be an all inclusive process with the opposition , civil society and the church forwarding names and vetting those nominated by the advisory council . The electoral process should adopt the use of transparent ballot boxes to minimize the incidence of fraud while the counting of ballots should be conducted...
