UK BRACES FOR RECESSION Members of Parliament (MPs ) are seriously considering legislative measures to caution the impact of the recession triggered by the collapse of financial institutions in the United States , including granting extra powers to the Prime Minister so as to enable him to positively response to situations which may endanger the political and economic stability of the United Kingdom

situations like investment withdrawals and bank runs may have serious repercussions on UK 's immediate future

The move was supported by Conservative party leader David Cameron who also appealed for wide-ranging laws to help small industries in the country particularly during this credit crisis . The opposition leader stressed the need for measures aimed at rescuing banks but at the same time hurled a political accusation , particularly at Prime Minister Gordon Brown , for the government 's failure to save during the previous growth period .
