Community policing is considered as a new strategy that calls for the incorporation of the community in ensuring the safety of the citizens This was in the wake of the realization that the police alone could not comprehensively handle the problems that are prone in the society and therefore the citizens are to work hand in hand with the police in addressing these problems . The community policing is a proactive strategy as opposed to

the traditional reactive strategy

Introduction

Community policing is a policing strategy that has been developed in the recent past upon realization that the policing objective can better be achieved when the community is brought on board in policing issues . This strategy calls for collaboration between the police officers and the community in to build a partnership that will enhance the problem solving methods and be proactive in addressing the issues that are responsible for public safety (Wilson , 2006 . Due to changing environments , the police are no longer considered as the only individuals responsible for the enforcement of law and instead the community members are encouraged to be involved in enhancing security of their surroundings . This is going to give an analysis of the community policing concept and how the same can be used in dealing with some issues including domestic violence
