1 ) Haiku

Crystal drops falling

On eager leaves , vivid green

Facing the heavens

2 .a ) Emily Dickenson 's (1830-1886 ) poem Heart , We Will Forget Him captures the loneliness of a woman who has experienced a broken heart from an ill-fated love . Here , the woman is talking as much as to herself as to her heart , willing the latter to forget the warmth he gave ' and herself to forget the light ' It is not clear from the text whether Dickenson is referring to the ending of a love affair or the pains

of unrequited love . However , Dickenson describes fully the difficulty of forgetting the object of romantic love in a manner that parallels the adage the spirit is willing ' but the heart clearly is weak . Although the woman resolves to forget her lover or the object of her affections her heart is lagging ' behind , which makes it hard for the woman to completely erase the man from her memory

2 .b ) This poem undoubtedly evokes sadness and desperation . It made me feel the emptiness or hollowness in her heart that the woman in Dickenson 's poem is depicted to be experiencing . It brings to mind the image of a woman whose lover had left her , leaving her alone to nurse her broken heart . It also reminds me of the feelings of being rejected by the one you love or the times when one realizes that your feelings will never be returned by the object of your affection . The poem 's setting , which is at night , reminds me of the sad nights spent alone and lends the poem a hint of desperation with the woman trying so hard to pick herself up after being hurt by telling her heart that it is possible to fill the gap left by forgetting the one that gave it warmth
