p In the Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare is giving his of what love is , regarding it 's strength in not being changeable . Several mentions are made about how a true love relationship does not change or end , no matter what may come up . This is told by the first line of the poem when he is declaring to the reader that he is going to discuss what staying features love has , and not about the problems between the two people in the relationship . The second sentence continues with this mode of when it states

that true love is not a relationship which will change , or end just because a problem may come up . The thought is further commented on regarding whether those problems were to come up from within the relationship , or from an outside source

The next line is fairly self-explanatory , when Shakespeare comments that it is an ever-fixed mark ' This is just another example of the of a true love relationship being steadfast , no matter what issues may arise . Following that , when he uses the example of tempests , that would refer to storms , or in this case , bad times that may arise regarding the true love relationship . And again , the steadiness is exemplified by stating that true love is never shaken even through the storms which may happen

The next section changes the a bit by stating that it is a star , which not only comments on the steadiness and fixedness of a true love relationship , but that it is a beautiful thing that people look towards and for . This is further talked about with the rest of the line to every wandering bark , which is talking about the fact that everyone is looking to have this type of love relationship , and that they talk about it , even if they don 't have one yet . Also , that if they have never had that type of love relationship , that they would not know what it would be worth , though they talk about what they think it is which is exemplified by the part although his height be taken

The next section again changes a bit from the beginning type of style when it begins to tell the reader what love is not , yet at the same time , describing what it seems to be . Also , Shakespeare refers to the time that has been spent in a relationship . Even if a true love is young and new , when it is real , it is there for the long run . This is considering the line within his bending sickle 's compass come ' The next line continues with the time references , but goes back to love being unchanging . Love will not change even if it is a new relationship and time will not destroy it either . The next line also considers time when is says , it bears out even to the edge of doom ' This is to be understood as to mean that a true love will last until the end...
