When the war between the British and the Nazis broke , the Jewish community was slowly deteriorating . At first , they were only allowed to own a specific amount of money for their family , afterwards , discrimination in the country was strongly implemented . They were even required to wear arm bands that had a blue star

imprinted on it , that identified them as Jews
The time came when all Jews were ed to be killed through execution . All Jews were asked to ride the trains and the trucks for them to be brought to the camps . Wladsylaw was removed from the line and was separated from his family . It turned out that their family friend was the one who saved him from being killed . It was also the last time that he saw his family alive . Disheartened and restless , Wladsylaw tried hard to go on and survive . He was left in the city where people were killed drastically on the streets
Wladsylaw kept himself into hiding , almost dying due to jaundice and malnutrition . As he went out , he found no one alive . Most of the buildings were destructed , leaving Wladsylaw to himself . He desperately searched for food in the houses that were not fully destroyed Fortunately in one of the houses , Wladsylaw found a can of cucumbers Weak and dying of hunger , he struggled to open the can with the little metals that he could find lying around the abandoned house . To his dismay , the can flew open , spilling the syrup which he intended to drink . In turned out that a German captain , Capt . Wilm Hosenfield (Thomas Kretschmann ) was watching him do his thing
The said captain was filled with pity when he saw the struggling Wladsylaw . Wilm interviewed him and asked what he did for a living . When the captain found out that he was a pianist , the latter asked Wladsylaw to play a little music . He did what was asked of him , and the captain was touched with the way he played . He was allowed to hide in the abandoned house and the captain even provided him with food that was enough to let him survive the war
When the war ended , Wladsylaw was able to play the piano again . He was able to go back to being the handsome young pianist that he was before the war broke . Capt . Wilm Hosenfield , on the other hand , suffered a different faith . He was captured and sent to a concentration camp . The captain even asked a Jew to help him look for the pianist friend , but Wladsylaw was late and Wilm had died already
The performance of the actors were extraordinary . Adrian Brody , who portrayed Wladsylaw Spzilman , was excellent . Since the movie was taken from a first person 's point of view , most of the scenes were...
