PART 2 : RECOMMENDATIONS FOR STIMULATING THE PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILDREN

1 YEAR OLD

At this point in the child 's development , the ability to walk short distances should be encouraged and the use of speech promoted . In these groups at the daycare environment , there should be one caretaker to each 2 children . The children should be given incentives to walk and crawl and play with objects . In the center I observed , there were 5 children to each caretaker , and the children did not receive enough stimuli to remain active p

Additionally , the ability to recognize common objects should be encouraged . One activity Id did not see which would be beneficial is to have a variety of common things - cat , dog , etc which the caretaker names and shows to the child . The child should be encouraged to point to the right object when it is named

Finally , in to develop mental abilities and finer motor skills games of hide and seek should be encouraged . The caretaker should hide objects such as blocks or toys underneath crates or boxes , and then encourage the child to remove the covering object to retrieve the hidden object

2 YEARS OLD

The daycare center does not have enough large toys for the children at 2 years old . The children need to learn to push and pull objects Lawnmowers or wheelbarrow type toys would be good

Additionally , the children should be more encouraged to pursue pattern matching . They should focus on games where the square blocks go in square holes , and follow simple instructions

In this class , there was not much music , and I think music would help to greatly enhance the children 's experiences - especially sing along songs and action songs such as the hokey-pokey . This will help to encourage speech development and motor skill control...
