I see it as an arena for people who continuously desire to expand their sphere of knowledge and to explain the occurrences in the world we live in This view is the reason why I have engaged myself into various scientific activities specifically in the field of Chemistry and Archaeology (at the University of Virginia

) and Genetics (at the Chicago Academy of Sciences . I am presently involved in a genetic research on mollusks at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and currently considering a career in the anthropology department at the field museum
While I was majoring in Chemistry and Archaeology at the University of Virginia , I attended two archaeological digs one of these lasted for about six weeks in a Native American Site dated back to the Seventeenth Century . The other archaeological dig was conducted at a historical site dating back to the Nineteenth Century . It was also during this time that I performed iso analyses of hair samples obtained from ancient Egyptian Mummies to determine their diet
After graduating from college , I discontinued studying so as to enable me to take stock of my life and to enable myself to venture into the field of novel writing . My passion for education was always there and so I examined various graduate programs that I could possibly pursue just so I could continue studying . I decided to pursue a program in patent law . In law school , I fared well although initially I was not enamored by the study of law and its practice . It seemed to me like a profession motivated solely by personal gain and was not concerned with the advancement of society . After successfully completing my first year in the program , my professors and several lawyers persuaded me to continue with it as it would become more interesting . I persevered with my studies and eventually realized that acquiring a law degree was not an utter waste of time and effort since it helped me become a more critical thinker and adept at arguing in a legal manner . Furthermore , I acquired knowledge regarding the historical foundation of our legal system and grasped the nuances of patent law
However , the scientist in me felt the need for the acquisition of new knowledge and discovery of new facts . I sought for various graduate programs in the field of science for which I was eligible . A novelist would describe the experience as somewhat like courting one 's original and true love and in my case , my first love is science . Furthermore , the search which I consider elaborate , disclosed that physical anthropology was ideally suited to my needs- my need for new knowledge . I consider the acquisition of knowledge through a study of science as one of the sources of my happiness and fulfillment as an individual...
