Philosophy of History

1 . Ford said that history is more or less bunk ' in an interview posted in the Chicago Tribune last May 25 , 1916 . This indicates his view on history and how he feels about the past and the present . He said these words when he was interviewed regarding disarmament and it has spurn to various perspectives regarding history and how careless Ford was in making this kind of statement . A libel suit was d against the Chicago Tribune and he was made to explain the statement he made that affected historians and a large

part of the population . Ford explained then , that the statement that he made was a personal opinion regarding history and its significance in the present times

Ford may be right that it didn 't matter to him but in general , history is important in understanding the present . He has a point , though , that the history one makes is important in shaping the future . What one does today , especially something as big as creating a big automobile industry as Ford , is more significant than whatever happened in the past . What one does in the present time becomes a history once the future comes And this is where Ford becomes wrong in his statement . Ford must have in a later time , realized the significance of history as he built a museum at a later point in his life
