Discuss the issues and challenges that would come in building an
e-commerce site for that company , where customers would be able to
purchase their items over the Internet .
The birth of the Internet had caused so many changes in the way
transactions are done in today 's modern world . All information we all
need is just a click away . Information is right in front of us anytime
and anywhere we need it . And as years go by , Information and
Communications Technology advances fast that a lot of big organizations
take advantage of it to improve the way these companies serve their
customers .
With these advances , many organizations engaged themselves into buying
and selling products over the web . This type of trading in the Internet
is commonly known as Electronic Commerce or e-commerce . A variety of
commerce is conducted through electronic funds transfer , Internet
Marketing , Online Transaction Processing , Inventory Management System
and Electronic Data Interchange (http /en .wikipedia .org /wiki /Electronic_commerce , no year )
The use of e-commerce technology by big organizations is one way of
marketing their products . This leads to increasing their number of
customers since many customers nowadays opt to just stay at home and
browse the web to order or purchase something rather than go to the
store themselves . One advantage of having an e-commerce site is the
comfort and convenience it brings to the customers since they need not
go personally to the store to purchase product /s . Another advantage is
that gives customers enough time to review the products added to the
cart and make some necessary changes , if there are , in cases where the
customer changes his mind .
The mode of payment for this type of online transaction is usually done
by giving away the customer 's credit card number . Providing information
such as these is one of the risks the customer has to take in purchasing
items online . This credit card account might be hacked , thus causing it
much trouble on the part of the customer .
Some risks in engaging to an e-commerce site come in different
categories . First is the Information Risk which comes from all the
information that goes with the websites associated with the conduct of
e-commerce . This is also related to the misuse of information , such as
violating the laws in some countries worldwide . Second is the Technology
Risk . This involves the misuse of hardware , software and
telecommunication devices to address business needs . Third is the
Business Risk which concerns customer-supplier relationship and those
associated with products and services distributed over the Internet (http /www .muhlenberg .edu /depts /abe /business /miller /ecrisks .html , no
year )
If the above-mentioned risks will continue to rise in the years to
come , there is a tendency that customers who engage in electronic
trading might lose trust to the company . To avoid or lessen the chances
of experiencing the above-mentioned risks , the company should provide a
very tight security control of the records and all the information that
their clients will provide . This is , indeed...
