Pharmacy School Admission Essay

At this point in my life I am certain that I am destined for a career as a pharmacist , a fact that is confirmed by my deep inner conviction based on several years of study and work experience . I have decided to seek a degree in Pharmacy to enhance my professional knowledge and skills and to approach the realization of my big dream , which is to help the underprivileged children around the world , especially in Vietnam , my mother country . Being a pharmacist would open more opportunities for helping

those in need , something I really enjoy doing now , visiting the elderly club and reading books to elders . I love seeing how gratefully they respond to attention , and remember that taking my education to a new level through a Bachelor 's degree will enable me to offer assistance to the needy on a new , more advanced and effective , level

My past experiences convinced me that I have the right kind of attitude combined with quick learning ability , ambition , enthusiasm for knowledge that make me set for success in the program . After coming from Vietnam to the United States in 1994 , I was an honor student with GPA of 4 .0 in high school at North High which I attended for two years . Even though I had to make a pause in my education because of financial problems in my family , I returned to studies as soon as possible , taking up a course at Metropolitan Community College . At the moment I stand to get an AA degree (GWC ) by April 2006 from Golden West College that I have been attending since August 2001 . My further plans involve a transfer to the University to obtain a Bachelor 's Degree

I am the kind of person who really enjoys studying and is never tired to gasp at learning new things that evoke wonder and admiration . In the pre-pharmacy courses I took to get ready for Pharm . D program , I was thrilled about chemistry , although it was the most challenging subject that kept me in the library all the weekends , going over class material in a little self-formed study group . To get deeper into the intricacies of this science , we would ask our professor for his permission to do some additional experiments in the lab the days class did not meet . In the next year I was fascinated with Anatomy , spending nights in memorizing the names of bones and muscles , systems and processes , glands and organs , abnormalities and diseases , and staying after class to go over the organs and tissues on the mannequins over and over again . This year I had some other courses that rivet my attention - Human Physiology , Zoology , and Botany . Since I have an intense interest in things I am studying , time and effort applied to studies do not exhaust me , and I am ready for more academic work that will make my professional goals seem closer
