Pharmacy Admission Test Questions (1 ) My personal experience back home in Iran and during my early years in the United States contributed in enhancing my basic knowledge about how society works . I have realized that a family could experience adversities in any kind of society depending upon its place in the prevailing social and economic conditions . I come from a Jewish family and my father was a Jewish religious leader in Iran . However , in spite of his position of leadership in our community , our family lived a very difficult life because of the

discrimination which was practiced by the Muslim majority against the Jews in that country . When we arrived here in the United States minus my father (he was not allowed to leave Iran although we were no longer discriminated against because of our religion , my family experienced another kind of difficulty - this time economic . Without any kind of financial support from anybody including my father in Iran , I was forced to assume the role of breadwinner in spite of the fact that I was only a teenager in to support my mother and my sister . I first worked for a local synagogue , then in a construction site , and finally in a catering business (2 ) The discrimination that we had experienced in Iran proved to be a very influential social factor in my life . It taught me the bitter lesson that no amount of courage , hard work , determination , and resourcefulness could help a person succeed in a society where he or she is being discriminated against . In other words , if he or she really wants to succeed , he or she should first overcome the discrimination That was what we did when we decided to leave Iran - to be free of the discrimination which had been enslaving us . On the other hand , the economic hardship that we experienced during our early years here in the country molded me into a very hardworking individual . I realized that I had to work like a slave in to earn enough to support my mother and my sister . My social experience in Iran and my economic awakening here in the United States combined to help me succeed in my academic life . Free of discrimination but economically deprived , I know that I had to be very focused and determined in everything I do (3 ) My experiences both in Iran and here in the United States armed me with the determination and the perseverance to learn everything there is to learn about pharmacy and to do everything in my power to contribute significantly to the profession . While still in school , my experiences at the Los Angeles Pierce College as club vice president and the skills I learned as a teaching assistant for a community service course would be very useful in promoting and organizing campus activities that would invigorate pharmacy as a branch of learning
