Peter Worthingtons essay, Its AmericasGood FortuneThatThey Have a President Willing to Declare War onTerrorism
Running Head : Patterns of Development A Summary on the Essay : Patterns of Development by Peter Worthing Gary Crawford English 131 : Journal 1 December 11 , 2007 Crown College Professor Emily Cano A Summary on the Essay of Patterns of Development Terrorism has slowly and clandestinely been on the rise like a monster ominously creeping up behind you then stabbing you to death by surprise It was growing and becoming widespread by the day then , 9 /11 happened and everyone was shaken and wrought with fear , which was what the

terrorists wanted . Everyone could not believe of this impossibility occurring right on American soil . The United States of America then strengthened their resolve to eradicate these terrorist groups and declared a war on terror and fought to defend what was done to the country
As Worthing had stated based on book , The War against the Terror Masters ' by Michael Ledeen , the September 11 terrorist attack was partly a failure by U .S . Intelligence . The country has declared war against terror since the time of President Ford but in the 1970 's , the CIA agents were forbidden to deal with unsavory characters in the Middle East . Eventually , the quality of intelligence deteriorated during Carter 's and Clinton 's administrations . It is very fortunate that America has a president who is very decisive and has unfaltering convictions even when disasters happen such as that of 9 /11
Signs of the growth of these terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda were there and warnings were given by Italians and the Sudanese yet was ignored but when 9 /11 happened , Americans have become more vigilant and never will ignore any intelligence report thrown their way . This taught not just the Americans but all countries in the world that it never pays to be complacent . We have to be always one step ahead and we have to be kept on our toes since lessons don 't need to be learned the hard way and lives don 't need to be ruined and lost just so these terrorists could show their obsessive and momentary display of power and control over the most powerful country in the world
