Paradigm of Leadership Some people want to be leaders some don 't and wish to be just followers . In a situation or phase in life , there is always a necessity for a leader . Is it easy to be a leader ? The answer would depend on how a person would view the many aspects which encompass leadership There is the ideal paradigm of thinking for effective leadership According to Shirk , a leader is effective when both micro and macro levels are considered . A leader 's primary goal is to establish unity for a

focused goal and direction . Success comes through uniting diverse personalities and skills into a cohesive whole . To accomplish this they must do their work behind the bifocals of both macro and micro lenses (Shirk , 2005 , 1
Shirk further says that a leader must think "systems " when he views his enterprises . This is the "macro view " of leadership . Success in every field is directly linked to understanding "systems " requirements for each of these . According to Shirk , many leaders are self-deceived by thinking that an entrepreneurial sense of "vision " is the same as a macro-view of leadership . The visionary leader with a macro-view sees the horizon with all of its opportunities and the "geography " of the wilderness that lies between vision and fulfillment . All of these together make up the "system " that must be in place to reach our objectives . This is the essence of "systemic thinking (Shirk , 2005 1
