Personal statement for transfer students

QUESTION ONE

I have a very great interest in pursuing my degree course in the university of California . Here , I would like to major in Environmental Economics and policy , which has been my dream field since I was young My interest in this field developed as I grew up and realized that air pollution in China was at extreme and its threats to the people were paramount . Worse even is that it claimed lives of so many citizens whereby they suffered from lung cancer and later on die . This air pollution is

caused mainly by burning of carbon balls for cooking and by heating up other materials that contain carbon . I strongly believe that strong policies should be put in place and imp0lemented concerning the environment and this will save so many lives not only in China but in the whole world since environmental pollution , specifically air pollution is a worldwide threat

In addition , there are so many accidents that arise from the fact that the physical environment is in a mess . I am motivated to see that all these hazardous things to human life become an history . As pertains my field of interest , I have been engaged in several activities that have built me a lot , and enriched me with information concerning the environment and environmental problems . For example , I have gained enough experience from being a member of the committee to promote the reunification of China (CPRC ) whereby I have been involved in making and helping events as well as attending the state government events to promote the unification of China . This has enabled me to work for and appreciate a peaceful environment . Additionally , I was the Director of Huang Shin 's Chinese peace foundation whose mission was to make events to promote the peaceful unification of China and Taiwan

From this , I learnt how to provide a conducive living environment to the people wher disease outbreaks and wars are unheard of . For the last two years , I have been a member of Chinese for Christ young Adult fellowship (CFCYA ) whereby we undertook bible studies as well as having outdoor activities like clean-up trips in hospitals and towns . From this I have developed an interest of seeing a clean environment as well as living in one . Moreover , I have had many volunteer activities and community services for example in 2004 , I worked for 64 hours at San Leandro library whereby I maintained a very clean surrounding by ensuring that all litter was collected as well as trimming the flowers and cutting the surrounding grass . I also helped in arranging books in the library into their corresponding shelves . I also volunteered for 72 hours at Huang Shin 's Chinese peace foundation for one and half years where I internalized the need for peace in our environment .
