Personal Protection Team

Introduction

As the head of the personal protection team , I had made prior arrangements to cater for most eventualities . However , the decision by the client to walk over to the crowds presented a challenge considering the inadequate security personnel on site . The most important thing is to focus on the safety of the client . I immediately radio the police officer in charge of security and inform him that a situation is developing . To deal with it , his men need to push back the barricades to increase

the distance between the hostile crowd and the client . At this juncture the rapid response team should be called in to handle any crisis and the police officers on duty instructed to block off all exits . As a precautionary measure , an ambulance should be called in to handle any emergencies

A brief delay is needed for the security detail to push back the crowds and take up strategic positions . The client thus needs to be convinced to wait for a few minutes as they police officers make the necessary arrangements . The other agent and I will escort him to the welcoming crowd . The client will remain sandwiched between us throughout the handshaking session . As he works the crowds our attention will be on the crowds to identify any action that may be interpreted as hostile or suspicious . On reaching the crowds , I make sure I am positioned where I can quickly disentangle the client from any attempt to drag him into the mass of humanity . At the same time I ready my gun as a precaution . After a few handshakes with some of the crowd members , I direct the client to move back towards the cars so we can leave the scene immediately . This is no time to argue and I will literally drag him to the vehicle if he insists on putting himself in danger . All the while I am on the radio getting feedback from the police officer in charge . With the agent in front of the client , I guard the rear not taking my eyes off the gathered crowd

I radio the driver of the vehicle and ask him to bring the car closer to our positions . The police backup should have arrived by now and I ask for more men to guard the vehicle and to keep off all members of the public by creating a buffer zone of at least 20 feet from the vehicle in every direction . On approaching the vehicle , I direct the agent to run ahead and open the passenger door for the client so as to facilitate a swift departure from the venue . As his car pulls away I ask the police officer not to let any car through the blockade other then the dignitary 's and mine . I pursue them closely in an unmarked vehicle to ensure that they are no cars following us
