A Background : What do I want and what can I get from Nursing

Being a student enrolled in a nursing course , I am aware of the difficulties of a nurse , as well as the patients who are being taken care of by the people under this profession . The demands on the nurses are still maintaining its high rate , especially in countries like Cuba where there are even more doctors per capita

than in US to be assisted by the nurses . There are countries that give very much importance in the health of its citizens . That is quite good , because the citizens comprise the work force of a country . A healthy country produces a healthy economy . Therefore , the job of a nurse is very crucial . It takes a lot of skills to pursue a very critical , yet practical nursing field Nurses play an important role in the success of an operation , from the simplest to the most complex kind of operations . Without the nurses , the attention of the doctors shall be distributed to many things like monitoring the vital signs of a patient , or even getting the necessary tools during an operation . Nurses also do the monitoring of a patient after having some surgery to investigate whether there are harmful changes in the body of the patient or if the patient improves status or undergo recovery . From these examples , people may come to think that a nurse 's job is easy and everyone can do the same , but that is wrong . A nurse must be a good team player and have a partnership with the doctors . A nurse must be competitive , since though simple , their roles are crucial . Because of this , a nursing student like me should seek profession very passionately . Setting goals is very important to achieve this kind of passion . It starts with knowing one 's objective in applying to be a nurse . Then , a goal must be formulated in to have a driving force that is needed to be able to sustain the hardships and the conviction to a job that is emotional , but professional . My professional short-term goal is to graduate holding this degree and be able to pass the licensure examination for nurses .
