This 14-year-old boy was admitted with the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus under my nursing care to this unit . He is a very pleasant boy Andy , who was diagnosed with this disease in March 2009 . I was assigned with his care since he needed regular and frequent monitoring of his blood sugar . He was placed on insulin therapy for his type 1 diabetes mellitus , and it was important to adjust the dose of insulin based on his blood glucose levels . To this end , the clinical team decided that

br his blood glucose levels would be monitored regularly while in the unit so the decline of his blood glucose from the initial level of 600 can be tracked at regular interval representing the daily blood glucose control . The uniformity of such would indicate adequacy of the insulin dose and adjustments necessary could be incorporated in his daily regimen .
