According to this theory , an employee 's or an individual 's needs can be classified into 5 hierarchy groups , and once the needs of a lower

group have been fulfilled , the individual would go on to aiming at and fulfilling the needs of the next higher hierarchy group . The five hierarch groups suggested by Maslow include `basic or physiological needs (such as food , water , clothing , etc , `safety and security needs (such as insurance , protection , security devices , etc `belongingness needs (such as friends , family , social relationships children , marriage , etc , `esteem and status needs (such as occupational status , fame , luxuries , self-respect , etc , and `actualization growth needs (motivation for further growth , development and expansion (Boeree , 1998 . Usually , the needs of the lower hierarchy would be dominating the needs at an upper hierarchy , and the individual would be preferably being looking at fulfilling the lower level needs . Maslow felt that in an organization , the hierarchy of needs fulfillment could continuously be utilized to motivate an employee at the workplace
Social Development is a process by which human manpower and functions are planned in such a way at the workplace that the outcome achieved at the higher levels would be more ideal and effective . Only through the process of development are human resources utilized in a more efficient manner . Social development should be supported by a theory (that has been effectively validated ) so that the process of trial and error or experimentation is reduced during the workflow . The progress cases of experimentation would be rather uneven and the failure rate would be high . However , this is a pattern (using experimentation ) that is seen throughout the world , as the gap between the developed and the developing nations is only increasing . If a foolproof social structure which follows a particular theory is utilized , then these problems could be solved . In social development two closely connected areas need to be considered , namely , learning and application . Knowledge would help to achieve the economic and social objectives and build the human consciousness , whereas application would help to systematize the workflow . Interactions and communications within the society would create an environment conducive to progress at the workplace whereas the external environment would help to research , produce and develop further . External factors could act as both , as a threat or an opportunity to the organization (Jacobs Cleveland , 1999 References
