Life is a gift . Living is indeed a treasure . These are the reasons why human beings strive to find solutions on how they can preserve their lives and prolong their stay here on earth . The continuing quest for human survival against different diseases leads many scientists researchers , medical practitioners , and even academe professionals to invent medical instruments and /or develop medicines that guarantee cure for a particular disease . The sad part is that some individuals and groups see this

as an opportunity to increase their financial gains by taking advantage of the need of patients for treatment . Among these opportunistic groups are the pharmaceutical companies which invented ample diseases more than the medical practitioners could find

In the book How Doctors Think ' written by Dr . Jerome Groopman , the author made different presentation and analysis on some of the problems facing modern medicine . This includes the complication in the role of medical practitioners , the difficulties that arise in understanding patients , and the strengths and weaknesses of physician 's decision-making skill . In Chapter 9 , Groopman presented and discussed different cases wherein pharmaceutical companies try to change how doctors think which is creating a clinical dis by medicalizing normal changes and challenges in life wherein aspects of personality and temperament that deviate from a narrow norm are being labeled as psychological illnesses requiring medications (209-210 .
