Organizational Communication
1 The meaning of diversity for me is the wide differences of people all over the world . When I hear that word , I think about how different we all are on many levels such as culture , religion , perspective , and so much more . I wonder about how in all that diversity , people can still compromise and agree on many things . Yet it also makes me think about all the violence that has occurred because of diversity between two opposing factions such as that between Israelis and Palestinians . I feel somewhat overwhelmed by this

word and its implications . I come to realize how diverse even my community is . From mass media , images of people of different color and religion banding together for common purposes come to mind . I remember one UNICEF ad advocating against drug abuse which featured how diverse cultures are all against it . In my perspective , these ideas affect communication in several ways . If diversity causes fear , then people would be more reserved when communicating with people from other cultures or cocultures . On the other hand if the people think of diversity as a wonderful trait that sets people apart so that they can appreciate the differences , then people would be more pleasant in communicating with other cultures or cocultures
