Many are the times we are approached with mouthwatering offers by service providers , funny enough to we fall to them so easily probably due to desperation or the fact that we spend less time investigating more before jumping into conclusion . You would agree with me that most of te things they state in the advertisements are not actually what and how we are served mostly . This is the exact scenario this essay

Demaron Hostels is one of the premiere hostels which started providing facilities mainly to students of one of the best Private Universities in the country during my undergraduate studies . It was in a way large with quite satisfactory facilities and serene . The facility was and is still been ran by a manageress and three other workers comprising of a porter and two cleaners . From my personal point of view , at first site I realized Demaron Hostels looked very much like a high profit earning venture with a chance of great prospects in the future . The facility in all had 24 living rooms with a large general room for relaxation and entertainment as well as a common kitchen

The caliber of customers Demaron Hostels attracted included not only students from my University but also some foreign students who were attending a language institution near- by . The rooms at the hostel were categorized into different groups depending on the facilities it had and the number of occupants in the room . Just as Demaron Hostels had customers which it served , it was also itself a customer to various firms ranging from the public utility providers to suppliers of detergents , toiletries amongst others . One very obvious and important competitive advantage Demaron Hostels had especially when taking into account the category of customers they deal with (thus students , was its closeness to the institutions whose student patronized their services . This really became of great help to me especially when it comes to studying on campus late in the night , getting to lectures early , or even if out of forgetfulness , I leave some important study material behind that I would have to go for . In actual fact , this was one of the main reason why I chose the services of Demaron Hostels

Right from the onset two weeks to be specific after lectures for that academic year begun , Demaron Hostels unconsciously begun to let the skeleton out of the cupboard although it was quite difficult to notice with the academic pressure being placed on me by the course work . All the services that was stated on their forms that they promised to provide were nowhere to be seen and even the petty renovation work that needed to be done in some rooms including mine never saw any initiation nor progress . The cleaning services they promised they would provide every morning to my room , never became a reality not forgetting the provision of toiletries . One other aspect of the failed service provision system of Demaron Hostels was the inconsistency in power supply due to the ineffective management on their part , of the prepaid power provision they subscribed to . This resulted in me staying without electricity throughout the day and staying in darkness at night . You would agree with me that such uncomfortable situation caused by this poor service provision when not properly dealt with by an individual could lead to an unsmooth academic ride throughout the semester

From my little observation , I realized that what actually went wrong was generally the poor management and monitoring techniques adopted in running the facility . The manageress spent little time doing her duties leading to her inability to identify the problems which came up , let alone finding quick dependable and lasting solutions to them . The employees were also paid low wages and worked under very unfavorable conditions leading to them exhibiting low commitments towards their duties and you can be sue this lead to poor maintenance of the facility Sometimes , even the required tools needed for the job is unavailable not as a result of unavailability of funds , but rather the loop holes in the management or leadership of the firm

Personally , I believe Demaron Hostels has its self positioned in one of the most advantageous position both from a business perspective and geographically that can be utilized maximally to its very best . My first step towards rising Demaron Hostels through the ranks to an appreciable level , will be first of all putting this business at heart and dedicating whatever time necessary to put things in all the time I would also increase the number of employees although it would call for more capital injection , compared to what benefit it will bring that capital will be peanuts . This is because the current number of employees compared to the volume of worker needed each day to keep the place in each day is no way enough . One other very important thing I would look at is providing the necessary infrastructures for effective work delivery such as equipments , improved working conditions and befitting wages amongst others . However the establishment of all these ideas without carefully crafted and effective organization and cooperation or coordination between these ideas they would yield no good results nor make me achieves my aims although they are all good ideas . It would just be like a football team with so many stars yet no team work , no one can expect any good results from such a team , and the same applies here . I would also try as much as possible to give a listening ear to the occupants of the hostel since they are the source of first hand information on whatever problem that might emaciate . My workers will however not e left out of the picture , I will hold periodic meetings with them to get their consents on issues concerning the hostel

To effectively undertake all the mapped up strategies aimed at providing top class and high quality services at Demaron Hostels , It will no doubt play very important roles in realizing my vision . I would therefore deploy computers with software capable of receiving , documenting and analyzing data fed into it . With the help of such software and other necessary devices like an organizer , effective tracking of rate of consumption of some items (which will lead to one been able to easily predict when re-stocking is needed to prevent running completely out of stock , income and expenditure for a given period of time ( to help manage funds properly as well as track the performance of the firm ) and any other thing information technology can help do in soaring in business will become much easier and effective

Aside the expenses to be made for the IT infrastructure which will be taken from the firms already existing funds , a of expenses will be made each month as against an income of 11 ,666 .66 hence leaving a profit of 8 ,966 .66 . You would agree with me such a profit seems quite huge and depicts nothing but a future full of growth and development even if any unexpected expenses are to be made , provided funds are properly managed .
