Organized Labor Unions Before the modern age , nations were established by monarchies , by empires rule by men and women of noble blood . But in the 21st century kingdoms and fiefdoms were replaced by democratic governments that believe in the ideals of free market economics . From the point of view of entrepreneurs this means that it is a good time to invest and to put up businesses knowing that they can expect freedom from government intervention . But from the point of view of laborers , this can mean that they are at the mercy

of unscrupulous management . Thus , it would be advantageous for them to organize themselves and establish labor unions

Labor unions are already a part of the economic landscape at about the same time as the Industrial Revolution . Workers had to organize themselves so that they can find strength in numbers and in unity . It is a part of human nature to develop social groups and therefore it should not come as a surprise that the workers , employees , or laborers working in the same industry will band together to discuss common interests as well as to create a political force that will not be ignored by the government as well as the politicians that they help elect to office
