1 . INTRODUCTION

Tuberculosis or TB that stands for tubercle

bacillus is a deadly disease quite common worldwide . According to the World Health Organization , the year 2005 reported 8 .8 million new cases of TB predominantly in Asian countries like Bangladesh , China , India Indonesia , Pakistan and the Philippines . [Media Releases , 2007] It is projected that 20 -30 of the world population is suffering with the virus M tuberculosis . [Herchline , 2007] The infection often associated with poverty working conditions may spread devoid of the gender or age differences , the work area or any close living is a place where the virus is easily transmitted . Pulmonary TB is transferable through an infected person by inhaling the saliva or sputum . Due to ineffectual researches the information available regarding occupational TB is quite inadequate . The health workers prisoners are mostly the targets for conducting research other work areas like offices , old homes , shelters for homeless people , hostels farms etc . are neglected , even though reports of Tuberculosis transmission have occurred there as well [Tuberculosis in the workplace , 2001] According to the Infectious diseases in the workplace-fact sheet , [2005] the BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guerin ) vaccination is used to immune individuals from the TB virus for up to 15 years . This article discuses the disease pathology , the infection control issues its prevention especially regarding work areas

The article in view is "Tuberculosis " from the Health and Nursing Issues Australia dated 26 November 2007 , illustrating the information regarding the transmission prevention strategies for the infectious disease . It mentions that the new cases of South-East Asia Region are responsible for the 34 of occurrences globally . The article highlights the drug- resistant TB caused by incoherent treatment of TB . MDR-TB or the multi-drug resistant TB is the most dangerous of this class since the TB bacilli becomes immune to the most powerful anti TB drugs e .g isoniazid and rifampicin .
