How would you define disability

Disability is state

in which the individual develops a physical and /or a mental impairment that results in significant loss or limitation of normal functioning of several activities including walking , vision hearing , breathing , speaking , mental functions , speaking , etc (as per US Federal Law . The US Government has developed several disability statues to improve accessibility for individuals of special needs to public places , workplaces , etc (DOL , 2007 . A disability could develop as a result of developmental defects , birth defects , illnesses injuries , etc . Any person with disability would be having special needs and would have to be rehabilitated as a very important function is lost and the individual has to effectively cope up with performing the function in another or alternative manner . The nature of the disability varies from transient to life-long , and from incomplete to complete .2 ) Is there a disability culture ? Cultures are the characteristic features shared by a certain group of people , including values , knowledge , skills and art . People suffering from a disability would be sharing certain ideas , knowledge , skills and values , and hence disability could be considered as a culture . For example individuals with hearing impairment or visual impairment would be communicating or interacting with each other in a particular way and use a particular language (For coding and decoding purposes (DOL 2007 . Even the family members and friends who would be interacting with the disabled person would be a part of this culture . Even individuals suffering from certain neurological diss would be able to perform certain tasks and unable to perform others . Health is a state in which the individual is in complete physical mental , emotional and social wellbeing being . It does not merely refer to the absence of disease or any infirmity (WHO .
