In a case like Andy 's , it would be important for him to first realize the gravity of the situation whether his ethical standpoint or his job would be more important . However , in an overall ethical consideration , it is only appropriate that he talks about the nurse manager 's conduct and report it to the hospital administrators . Of course , it is not practical to relay the incidence to the next ruling personnel immediately above the nurse manager for this might compromise Andy 's

job and only a limited number of people will be concerned , thus minimizing the career protection standing of Andy for possible politicking inside the hospital . By reporting to the hospital administrators , Andy will be able to penetrate the overall sentiment of the organization about what seemed to be a breaching of universal precaution aspects which will make it much easier to control the situation rather than level by level reporting . Such action could take a long time of info relay which might compromise the health of the patients

If in the event the hospital administrators were not able to sustain a practical initiative to control the unethical ' practice of the nurse manager , the next possible step for Andy is to report the incidence to the government health authorities even if this will cost him his job . Of course , it is very obvious that the reusing of suction traps in exchange for capital profitability is an ethical violation for the patients ' health may be jeopardized

An ethical value is truly dependent on the person 's philosophy in life for it encompasses the approach towards the right conduct in life according to Wikipedia . For the situation being faced by Andy , the only responsibility on his part is to report or at least be concerned about how other people tend to compromise other persons ' well being just to gain some capital advantage . For this responsibility to materialize , he should have the initiatives to submit the seemingly risky health situation to the entities which can take the action to reverse the possible dilemmas inside the organization
