Nursing Role and Stem Cell Research ACT

RN is working in a hospital that performs IVF he or she becomes responsible to the disposal of stem cells . In other words the nurse must be aware of how to do about the work ethically and also with an eye towards the legal aspect . Now that there is a law regarding stem cell research somebody will pay when committing violations and this has put added responsibility to a nurse role aside from the traditional role as a caregiver . Nurses working in these facilities must report to authorities whenever violations of human

rights were committed in furtherance of research . A registered nurse does not only act as a watch dog but he or she must also be there to process the donation of stem cell research The process does not only involve the harvesting of cells but it also requires informing the patient or donor on the legal steps that must be followed

With regards to the procedures governing the donation of stem cells , a consent form is needed . According to Dahnke and Dreher , once the consent form indicates that the donated cells will be used for research , then .the consent form will be approved by an institutional review board (2006

The nurse also is duty bound to inform the donor that and their families that they can list limitations for how the cells can be used The nurse will also have to make known to the donor as to what will happen to the donated cells and how it will be used for experimentation Moreover , it is the job of the nurse to inform the donor that when the cells was donated the donor has in effect waived the rights over them .this includes forfeiting the right to control the sample in the future (Dhanke Dreher , 2006...
