In to prevent such limitations of post-cardiac stent placement , combined antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy is used to decrease the likelihood of thrombus formations and restenosis by decreasing

the activity of platelet coagulation
Various risk factors contribute to the formation of stent thrombosis and other associated vascular complications . Risk factors include (a premature discontinuation of thienopyridine therapy (Spertus , Kettelkamp and Vance et al , 2006 (b ) long-term dual-antiplatelet therapy predisposing bleeding (Nguyen and Brieger , 2008 , and (c ) premature discontinuation of dual-antiplatelet therapy (Grines , Bonow and Casey et al , 2007 . In to prevent thrombus formation after cardiac stet placement , two different therapies , antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapies , are usually combined and administered to reduce the activity of platelets and blood coagulation (Fuster , Alexander and O 'Rouke , 2007 br
.1113 . Antiplatelet therapy is most beneficial in preventing arterial thrombosis common during post-coronary stent placement , while anticoagulant therapy provides prophylactic treatment of venous and arterial thromboembolic diss (Craig and Stitzel , 2003
.262 However , discontinuing these therapies predisposes vascular complications , such as bleeding , restenosis and thrombus
