Post-cardiac stent placement usually results to various vascular complications , such as stent thrombosis and restenosis . In to prevent such limitations of post-cardiac stent placement , combined antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy is used to decrease the likelihood of thrombus formations and restenosis by decreasing

the activity of platelet coagulation

Various risk factors contribute to the formation of stent thrombosis and other associated vascular complications . Risk factors include (a premature discontinuation of thienopyridine therapy (Spertus , Kettelkamp and Vance et al , 2006 (b ) long-term dual-antiplatelet therapy predisposing bleeding (Nguyen and Brieger , 2008 , and (c ) premature discontinuation of dual-antiplatelet therapy (Grines , Bonow and Casey et al , 2007 .
