Introduction

The Northrop Grumman Corporation is a company that makes aerospace and defense crafts . This company was as a result of the purchase of the Grumman by the Northrop company which was effected in the year 1994 Northrop Grumman Corporation is the second largest contractor for defense services in the United States military and is the leading builder of water surveillance ships and submarines together with other naval vessels . It has well over 122 ,000 global workforce with recent

annual revenue reports reading amounts of about 32 billion US dollars It has been rated as one of the best 500 United States industrial companies . It was ranked position 73 out of the 500 list of fortune companies . Before the merger , both Northrop and Grumman companies had been in the airplane making industry . After the merger , the now big company acquired the major radar systems manufacturer called the Westinghouse Electronic Systems in the year 1996 together with the Xetron Corporation , and also bought Logicon which was a computer contractor for defense in the following year of 1997 . An attempt to merge Northrop Grumman Corporation and their competitor Lockheed Martin was dishonored by the United States government in 1998 . But the government authorized the acquisition of the Inter National Research Institute the same year . In the year 1999 , Northrop Grumman Corporation acquired the Teledyne Ryan which did surveillance systems development and unmanned aircraft . The same year , it acquired the California Microwave and the Data Procurement Corporation . Later in 2000 , the Northrop Grumman Corporation acquired other four corporations namely the Sterling Software , the Comptek Research , Federal Data Corporation and the Navia aviation As companies . Later in the year 2001 , Northrop Grumman Corporation acquired one of the ship building and defense electronic systems maker to the United States navy , called the Litton Industries . At the same time , a new company called the NNG , Inc . that belonged to the Delaware holding company . This Litton industries merged with the Northrop Grumman Corporation and both became subsidiaries to of the new NNG holding company . The Northrop Grumman Corporation then added the word Systems to its name to become the Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation to give room to the new holding company , the NNG ,Inc to also alter its name to become the Northrop Grumman Corporation we know today . In the last half of that same year , the Newport News Shipbuilding company which was one of the only two makers of nuclear submarines was bought by the Northrop Grumman Corporation . In 2002 , the company bought and made the TRW to become its sector for outer space technology , with the mandate to only specialize in the manufacturing of their laser systems and space systems . Northrop Grumman Corporation is now the only owning company to the Burt Rutan 's Scaled Composites on 20th July , 2007
