Abstract

This essay looked at the conventions of paralinguistic and kinesics in relation to cross cultural communication to see to what degree they were affective . It was a qualitative analysis of literature related to the . It was found that the majority of paralinguistic and kinesics conventions were universal and acted as essential components to successful communication in linguistic and non verbal conditions between speakers of differing languages and cultural contexts

The role of paralinguistic and kinesics has been important to the understanding of non verbal communication . However , in light of an ever growing cross cultural world , the emphasis of paralinguistic and kinesics has seen a shift in emphasis and significance . The environments of business , education , law and psychology have begun to realise the significance of cultural differences in relation to non verbal communication between those of different cultural backgrounds . This essay is aimed at looking empirically at some of the literature associated with paralinguistic and kinesics to see to what extent cross cultural factors effect the meaning of established norms
