I . Noise Control

Noise complaints often come from bothered neighbors who are annoyed by inconsiderate production of noise , such as through the use of music reproduction sets , television sets , excessive partying and other social activities (World Health Organization , 1995 . Another common source of noise problems are discotheques and rock concerts which can cause hearing damage to listeners , whether they be willing or captive audiences (World Health Organization , 1995

Excessive noise leads

to hearing loss and other hearing impairments (World Health Organization , 1995 . Therefore , persons who are intending to open a nightclub in a particular location should think of ways to minimize noise within the vicinity

In leisurely activities such as concerts , parties , and clubs , the sound pressure level in the location usually exceeds the healthy level , and this could lead to hearing impairment (World Health Organization , 1995 Thus , the responsibility to have established occupational standards that control noise exposure to employees and the neighborhood lies in the owner of the establishment . Regulatory agencies of the government should require certain standards that must be met before a club can operate Such requirements may include community protection , such as screens and vegetation , and private protection costs , such as sound insulating windows (World Health Organization , 1995 . Sound insulation in homes can be made by placing padding such as plaster boards to the walls , floors and ceilings of the place (Construction Research Communications Ltd Finally , considering the long term effects of loud noise on the hearing of frequenters of the club such as the employees , it may be required that they wear hearing protection such as earphones or earplugs

However , it poses a serious risk among families because of its potential to cause cancer (US Environmental Protection Agency , 2007

In the United States , radon is known as the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers ' and it is responsible for taking approximately 20 ,000 lives each year (US Environmental Protection Agency , 2007 . The risk of lung cancer associated with exposure to residential radon is confirmed by a North American and a European study that worked on previous ones . These studies confirm the nature of radon as a carcinogen because of their observations and occupational studies on underground miners who inhaled radon (US Environmental Protection Agency , 2007

Considering that radon is not susceptible of sensory detection , the only way to ensure that a residential place does not have dangerous levels of radon is to test such location for the dangerous gas (United States Environmental Protection Agency , 2006 . Both the seller and the buyer should be concerned about undergoing such a test , because it would benefit them both . For the seller , he can take appropriate...
