Admission Essay

One 's character and perspectives in life particularly at the ripe age of young adulthood can change often by events that create a mark in our lives . In my experience , doing below par of what I and my family have expected in the Hong Kong CEE Exam and migrating to the United States had changed my attitude towards my studies . Looking at the results of my examination in that fateful morning , I was struck by my examination rating : it was way below of what I had expected and is lower than

the rating of friends and classmates whom I have always thought I surpass intellectually and academically . During lunch when my friends are happily comparing scores and opinions , I was left in the corner struck and unable to speak . It was then that I felt like a big loser- and the realization hit me

This conversation made me realize that my future would largely be predicted by my studies and what I do now is what I would be 10 or 20 years from now

Migrating to the United States and being exposed to a new culture had further put pressure on my attitudes towards my studies . I had to adjust not only to the people and the culture but also change my study habits in to cope up with the higher standards of education in this country . Now , I try to study harder , listen more attentively to teachers and chose friends who would influence me to be a better person . I go to class on time I use my spare time for leisure activities as well as studying . Knowing...
