There are differences between independent /alternative sources of news and mainstream media . It is my personal opinion that it is imperative that the media distribute only facts , and not mixed truths that serve corporate interests . With various streams of ways to receive information , such as a television , news , magazines , books , radio broadcasts , and even the Internet , it is the duty of the media to provide accurate , reliable information to the public . Throughout history , various forms of spreading information have always taken place from newss , to books , news found its way into the

hands of the general public . Independent /alternative media outlets have always provided viewers with information that in many instances is not contained within mainstream media . Mainstream media has been infamous for spreading somewhat bleak information , primarily tackling issues of little importance from a political standpoint , mainly dealing with issues in Hollywood . Mainstream media coverage , such as Fox news , and CNN , briefly covered presidential candidate Ron Paul , while giving numerous amounts of coverage to Hillary Clinton , Barack Obamha , and John McCain whilst other independents media outlets , especially on the Internet , gave huge amounts of coverage to Ron Paul . With the recent disaster of 9 /11 , and the atrocious bills passed by President Bush , such as the patriot act , many citizens are dissatisfied with their government . Many of the issues that President Ron Paul stands for are issues that are not so good for major corporations , but great for the poor and middle class Americans . For example , politicians do not attack issues that are of major importance amongst the general public , such as the Federal Reserve System set in place in 1913 . Many Americans feel the Federal Reserve System is one of the primary issues that must be dealt with in this country , and a driving force behind all of our countries depressions and recessions . Furthermore , Ron Paul wanted to withdraw all troops from Iraq immediately , as the other presidential candidates wish to stay . The seven-year long war on Iraq has not only accumulated trillions of dollars of debt for our country , but has taken the lives of both Iraqis and Americans

Fox news , a mainstream media outlet owned by Rupert Murdoch , provided little coverage for the presidential candidate Ron Paul , while providing numerous amounts of coverage for Hillary Clinton and John McCain . Rupert Murdoch 's father , Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch was a powerful Australian news proprietor . Rupert Murdoch has close ties not only to Alex Greenspan , but the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board Ben Bernanke (Encyclopedia Britannica , 2008 . I think one reason Ron Paul did not receive too much coverage on Fox news network , was primarily because of his views concerning the Federal Reserve
