Latchkey kids spend most of the time alone at home due to parents commitment at work . This means that they have inadequate supervision from parents . This phenomenon came more evident during the world war 11 where parents were enrolled in the armed forces and other related jobs leaving children at home all alone

Parenthood is a responsibility for raising , nurturing and caring for children . It is a societal need that aims at healthy maintenance and growth of young ones . Infants usually depend on parents or guardians to provide and help them grow and lead their every day lives . Parenthood is a responsibility bestowed upon parents to have concern and a good relationship with the children as they grow . This relationship helps them in growing and having encounter with the outside world . Abandonment of infants has been a social crisis that has left children with no one to take care of them . This has forced them to work and meet the challenges of life at tender age . In fact abandonment has led to child abuse and neglect , emotional , physical and even sexual abuse . Violence has caused pain in children and their lives are too hard to bear . Furthermore culture and religion see parental love as the ultimate dedication of selfless devotion in caring and nursing children . Interfered development can lead to harmful social effects .
