The Native American Blood Within Me
The Native American Blood Within Me Name of student School Every day , at around 5 in the morning , the smell of fried bacon and eggs would linger in our whole house . The strident call of my mom is almost like thunder , echoing on the walls of my small room , urging me to get up and start the day early . I could almost constantly hear her saying Get up ! Start your day right ! Don 't skip breakfast . That 's the most important meal of the day ' But then of course , like most teenagers

br you see in the movies , I would just answer with a moan , cover myself up with my blanket complaining that the sun isn 't even up yet , so why would I ? This would send my outraged father climbing raucously up the stairs , banging on my door disregarding the Keep Out ' sign I hang on my door . I would not have any other choice but to get up , and start my day even without the sun
After breakfast , I would help my mom clean the garage , and my dad goes off to work . In fact , it is Christopher Columbus ' mistaken belief that he had landed in India , not North America that , the origin of the term Indian comes from . Today , it is recognized that Native Americans is the proper way to refer to my proud and strong ancestors (Paige , 2006
Contrary to what other people may know , not all Native Americans look alike . According to the Columbia Law Review in 2000 , eight of ten Americans with Native American ancestry were of mixed blood . It is estimated that by 2100 that figure will rise to nine of ten (Columbia Law Review , 2006 . Even I may not have striking Native American characteristics anymore (since the lineage is already far , but I still have some native soul in me . Funny , because even if I do not really look like a Native American , I still get stared at sometimes , with my bronze colored skin and my thick dark hair . The truth is , I do not look that different from my neighbors . I am...
