Native Americans , which are mostly comprised of American Indians , have their own speculations on what is good ' music . Their concept of good music can be traced back on what they think is of aesthetic value Knowing that this is based on judgment , there had been different opinion from the different Native American tribes , on what is good ' music among the several genres that are available in their and our time

As what we are to expect or from reasoning alone , we can

infer that the music that Native Americans value are based on the location of their tribe and on the people that they interact with . What these people often find good music are those that have cultural or traditional value to them . Their choice of music will then depend and depict on the historical and socio-political changes that are prevalent in their time .The Southwestern part of America are known for their music to be monophonic or associated with the plainsongs used in liturgy in European traditions . In contrast with this , most of North America 's natives are inclined to polyphonic music . It is said to be comprised of different rhythm and percussions . The eastern part of America on the other hand is greatly influenced by the call and response ' style or form which is greatly associated with the slave-trade in the Atlantic area

What real Native American style or their style before colonizers and various immigrants have populated the New World ' is something that is hard to explain , since , although there is lot of records about Native American traditions , it is still hard not to point it to or relate it with other culture and people who have interact with them . What Native Americans emphasizes are on the melodies and rhythm of the music and not exactly on the words . It can be seen in their use of vocables and instruments such as drums , rattles , Apache violin and different kinds of flutes . They believe that music is in fact a blessing by the creator and that it is also a way in which they can communicate with him /her

Most of the music is associated with femininity , since music is commonly a part that is dominated by woman , made by the woman or played for the woman . Also , it is a role that the women are inclined or are expected to do especially on ceremonies and games
