Motivation and Classroom Management I . Introduction

It is so disappointing and sad to see some of our students who cannot perform at their best and being distracted in class , basically , because they are misbehaving . More often than not , they are blamed because not doing very well is interpreted by others as not doing their best Unknown to others , these kinds of students are experiencing some low moments , psychological or emotional loads or ailments which resulted to their poor performance and misbehavior . Students , however good they may be

, are still human who experiences Psychological diss which will be seen in Physical , Mental and Behavioral aspects . This focuses on proper mental preparation of students to be able to motivate them and manage the class effectively

II . Causes of classroom misbehavior

Physical Diss

Fatigue and Eating Diss

In another study , the effects of a performance intervention were studied on students with ailments caused by trauma accompanied by bacterial reaction which is released by eating high carb and protein foods . In this effect , students experienced fatigue , trauma and weight gain , which affects their performance in class and cause misbehavior

Substance Abuse

Looking at the other side of students , many had been diagnosed as substance abusers with an accompanying mental illness , which is commonly referred to as a dual diagnosis . This generally happens due to the consequence of heavy workload from school accompanied by very limited sleep . Furthermore , they are constantly exposed to a high volume of stress from school and relationships . These factors can severely influence a student to abuse their intake of alcohol or narcotics and have difficulty managing their mental illness as a result of the addiction , for them to be able to cope up with pressure . So , regardless of the severity of a students mental health problem , he or she will experience in an inability to perform any task productively , such that it jeopardize his or her relationship with personal relationships and more over , his performance and bullying other students . Therefore , it is essential to seek professional help when one suffers or potentially suffers from mental illness

Behavior , Fear and Anxiety

The number of individuals that suffer from both substance abuse and mental diss in the United States is estimated at 10 million (Mojtabi , 2004 . Substance abuse causes mental diss as an outcome of self medication , attempting to heal and relieve another dis With this , 50 of individuals who had brain dis are interrelated with substance abuse since mental dis contributes to substance abuse

Most experience fear and anxiety or even lack of motivation and anger resulting to low self-esteem which has a very strong relationship with morale . The loss of self-confidence or a feeling of discouragement may also be caused by frustration , which in turn causes mental efficiency to be lowered Lack of Motivation

Every student is driven by something that has a big impact on them . It may be emotional and spiritual such as inner satisfaction accomplishment or achievement , even egoistical such as...
