A personal viewpoint is always relative . However personal it is , or no matter whom the person is , ethics will always be subject to one 's moral standards . Hence , ethics is coexistent with morality , such that , one cannot be completely and substantially defined without the other
Morality and ethics are based upon how the percipient observes actions thoughts or languages , whether these are offensive or tolerable . When a person does something that is immoral for their culture , it doesn 't unnecessary mean that his deed is already unethical . For instance drinking alcohol may be immoral but that does not imply that this action is already unethical
If we hold that morality and ethics could be situational , that is , they are dependent on time and location as the basic premise , and then we could out rightly debunk the succeeding question : could we end up because of self interest with no ethics ? Relativity of morality and ethics in time and space does not exclude personal interests . Another thing is that ethics is a program set of behaviors acquired through experiences and influences of the society . Thus , personal interest is always shaped by our experiences , wants , and our goals . And from this set of behaviors , ethics is manifested through our actions and how we respond to external stimuli and successive actuations of ethical actions ' mold our own standard of morality . That is still affected by morality and ethics of the society as a whole . theless , we are the ones who define this ethics and if it is because of self interest , we could always reinvent that set of core values and behaviors to suit with these concerns References
