Transsubstantiation and the Eucharist

Transsubstantiation is the wonderful change where the Eucharistic elements (bread and wine ) change into the body and blood of Jesus Christ . The elements only keep their appearance of bread and wine . The thought is to bring the literal truth of Jesus to the participants . It is also done in remembrance of Jesus and His sacrifices for the people

The idea of transsubstantiation comes from the Bible where

is mentioned that Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples , which happened at the time of the Last Supper . The Apostle Paul was the first one to write about the Last Supper (1 Corinthians 11 :23-26 . It is also mentioned by Mark (14 :22-24 , Matthew (26 :26-28 ) and Luke (22 :19-20 . Jesus asked his disciples to repeat this ceremony to remember Him . After Jesus ' death people who became His followers , repeated (and still repeat ) this ritual every Sunday

The several divisions of Christianity formed their own ideas about the exact meaning and purpose of the Last Supper . They do all have similar remembrance ceremonies
