Urban planning is an area of study that is concerned with land use planning and it aims at exploring several aspects of both the built and the social surroundings of communities and municipalities . Modern urban planning is affected by political , geographical , economic , construction and landscape factors . The results of the planning activities are the spatial pattern of the land use and the type and shape of streets

The Oxnard City neighborhood wanted to start a garden and a park that would in the future provide fruits and vegetables to them and at the same time rejuvenate the earth but their success was dependant on the acceptance of the project by the local planning authorities . The community garden was organized by Farm worker Family apartments together with the city of Oxnard as a section of the Neighbor-Works week which is aimed at bringing neighbors together in planning their environment . They began the whole process by coming up with planters boxes which were constructed by volunteers who were basically from Citibank , Oxnard Girls and Boys club and the Oxnard and Ventura City Corps .
