Modern Ukrainian History
Name University Course Tutor Date Modern Ukrainian History Abstract Holodomor , also called the Terror Famine of 1932 to 1933 , is one of the most tragic events in the history of Ukraine . The Soviet Union government , under the dictatorship of Joseph Stalin took food from the Ukrainian farmers thus starving the people , a move which would eventually destroy the Ukrainians . All Ukrainian land was put under the control of the government and all farming was done collectively . The peasant Ukrainian farmers resisted the move as they did not

desire to be controlled by the government and besides , their way of farming produced more harvests than the way of the Soviets . This attitude infuriated Stalin who commanded the secret police and the army to forcefully take food and animals from the Ukrainians . This food was stored under armed security to feed the industrial city workers and to be exported to other countries . Those who showed resistance were killed or deported to labor camps without food where they eventually died . The Soviet leaders tried to cover up the events from the rest of the humanity but once the Soviet Union collapsed , all this came to light . Millions of Ukrainians had starved to death while Stalin sold food to other nations
