within the context of personal responsibility . Ultimately , several concrete changes will be proposed by the researcher that will encourage achievement of this theory of justice

Justice and Freedom Examined

To begin , it is vitally important to understand the nature of justice and freedom within the American system . One of the misconceptions that need to be addressed outright is the false interchanging of the terms justice and freedom , which gives the false impression that they are one in the same , when in fact nothing could be further from the truth

While justice can be found as one of the ingredients of freedom , while vitally important , it is only a part of freedom . Moreover , justice can only be one part of any viable political system , which is clearly stated by the following quote from the text : justice is to be understood in its customary sense as representing but one of the many virtues of social institutions , for these may be antiquated , inefficient degrading , or any number of other things , without being unjust . Justice is not to be confused with an all-inclusive vision of a good society it is only one part of any such conception (Rawls , n .d . With these assertions is mind , it can be simply stated that justice is no the of freedom than a cent is the existence of the other . By its very nature , however , justice embodies freedom in that equal treatment for all people under a common set of laws lends a certain level of freedom to those people . In America , the freedom we have is tempered by justice in to protect an individual from others , as that violation of an individual is a direct blow to freedom itself

Freedom , as a concept , embodies the right of the individual to pursue their own best interests within the scope of the law and respect for others , harkening back to the concept of justice . Providing freedom to people has without a doubt contributed greatly to the success of America , and will undoubtedly play a role in the future growth of our nation , subject to certain limitations for the good of all . First of all , freedom must be distinguished from disintegrate the functions of a civilized society in the pursuit of personal gain .
